On a snowy winter’s night
A baby reindeer with a red nose was born.
As soon as everyone saw him,
They screamed that a calamity would come to the village.
Even his father turned his back,
But only his mother, in the approaching hellscape of death,
Protected the child.
Mom, why is my nose so red?
Every time I ask, the answer that comes back is,
“Because you were born that way.”
