Everything Everything’s seventh studio album, “Mountainhead,” released on March 1, 2024, is a departure from their previous AI-infused work. Recorded without plug-ins and effects, the synthetic pop album delves into futuristic themes of capitalism and social fracturing. Lead vocalist Jonathan Higgs describes the album’s concept, set in a fictional world where society builds a giant mountain, forcing people to live in a deep pit while contending with a giant golden snake. Higgs sees the “mountainhead” as one who believes in relentless growth regardless of the cost, creating a metaphor applicable to various contexts. The band will promote the album with a UK tour in March and April 2024.
