THE ROOM Lyrics by Josh Levi
That custom Cartier, hair styled a certain way
Your favorite lingerie, the smell of your perfume
All the things we used to do, all the things we used to say (Say)
That shit don’t go away, it’s like you’re in a room
We decided that we were better off as friends (Better off)
But I can’t relax (Can’ relax), I keep seeing you in my bed (Damn, in my bed)
See you moving on, I should be doing the same (Same)
Still naked in my brain (My brain), keep calling her your name like
Ooh, I wish I could forget like you, get you out my mind when I want to
Every time I’m loving on someone new, it’s like you’re right there in the room
We ain’t together no more, what you hunting me for?
Every time I’m loving on someone new, it’s like you’re right there, right there (The room)
Tell me if I imagined it, remember how I did it so passionate?
To think of someone else having it, does it cut you deep?
If I called you now, would you call me back? (Call me back)
Is it only good when you want it bad? (Want it back) Baby, fuck the past (Fuck the past)
What did Backstreet say? I don’t want it that way
We decided that we were better off as friends (Better off)
But I can’t relax (Can’ relax), I keep seeing you in my bed (Damn, in my bed)
See you moving on, I should be doing the same (Same)
Still naked in my brain (My brain), keep calling her your name like
Ooh, I wish I could forget like you, get you out my mind when I want to
Every time I’m loving on someone new, it’s like you’re right there in the room
We ain’t together no more, what you hunting me for?
Every time I’m loving on someone new, it’s like you’re right there
I wish, I wish I could forget like you, get you out my mind when I want to
Every time I’m loving on someone new, it’s like you’re right there in the room
We ain’t together no more, what you hunting me for?
Every time I’m loving on someone new, it’s like you’re right there, right there (The room)
In the room
Every time I’m loving on someone new, it’s like you’re right there in the room
Room, room, room
The Meaning of “THE ROOM” by Josh Levi
Josh Levi just dropped “THE ROOM” as part of his new album HYDRAULIC, and it’s one of those tracks that hits you right in the chest. It’s track six of fifteen, and honestly, it feels like the emotional core of the whole thing—raw, a little messy, and so damn relatable.
All the things we used to do, all the things we used to say / That shit don’t go away, it’s like you’re in a room
He’s singing about those memories that just won’t leave, you know? The ones that follow you around even when you’ve both moved on. It’s like the past is this room you can’t escape, no matter how hard you try to lock the door.
At its heart, “THE ROOM” is about the ghost of a relationship that just won’t quit. It’s that ache of seeing someone move on while you’re still stuck, still calling her your name by mistake. Levi’s not giving us answers here—he’s just letting us sit in that feeling, and damn, it’s a place we’ve all been.
