Well, Patrick Said… Lyrics by Leigh D.
(Feat. Suno, Leigh Denney)

Well, Patrick said he left the house
He made the drive a little dinner, something quick, a normal Tuesday night
And Patrick said she kissed him when he walked away
And everybody took those words and built a case that way

But there’s a clock upon the wall, and clocks don’t bend for grief
There’s 15 minutes in between the story and what we see
So tell me how the minutes fell
Tell me where they went
Tell me how one version turned to evidence because

Well, Patrick said and somebody wrote it down
Well, Patrick said
Then they passed the story round from a husband to an officer, from an officer to the stand

From a sentence to an expert till everybody understood the plan
But I keep looking at the clock
I keep counting what was said
Three children lost forever, and all I hear is well, Patrick said

She couldn’t speak
Machines were breathing where words should be
A body broken in a bed while strangers built a history
Less than a day, the wheels were turning all the same
A warrant written, guards outside before she could explain
And maybe every answer’s there
Maybe every piece is right
But questions aren’t a sin to ask when three babies lost their lives
So show me every minute
Put every piece in place
Don’t tell me not to question because questioning feels strange

You told me
Well, Patrick said
And somebody wrote it down
Well, Patrick said
Then they carried it around to the doctors, to investigators, to the experts on the stand

One voice moving through 10 miles until it sounded firsthand
And I keep looking at the clock
I keep tracing every thread
Three children lost forever, and all I hear is well, Patrick said

What did the watch say?
What did the phone say?
What did the house remember when the people looked away?
What did the medicine say?
What did the timeline show?
What did they actually witness?
What did somebody only know?

Because Patrick said so
He said
They heard
He said
They wrote
He said
They asked
He said
They told
He said it once
They said it twice
An expert heard it, then called it evidence

He said
They said
He said
They said
Until nobody remembers where the story started
Well, Patrick said

So put the record on the table
Well, Patrick said
Now tell me what you can prove
Separate the witness from the witness of the witness
Separate the memory from the story that was moved

I’m not asking you to name another villain
I’m not telling you who’s innocent instead
I’m asking how one voice can travel through a courtroom and come back wearing someone else’s head
There are three little names that deserve more than assumptions
There are three empty places, no verdict, resurrection
So ask every question, follow every minute, and don’t you dare confuse it with disrespect
Because truth can stand the asking
Truth has nothing left to dread
And if the answer to the question is only
Well, Patrick said

Then I still have questions
Then I still have questions
