denim Lyrics by MaRynn Taylor
We were classic
Never goin’ out of style
Automatic, like your Chevy burnin’ miles
July magic
Watchin’ bottle rockets fly
With his old jacket that still fits me just right
Oh, we tried to be tough
But we wore out
Yeah, what goes up
Gotta come back down
For a while, we mixed like Jack and Coke
We were flyin’ like birds of a feather
Holdin’ on to him, holdin’ on to me
Holdin’ strong like steel-toe leather
Swore we’d never lose our shine
Like his blue eyes underneath that Stetson
But I guess sometimes people change
And feelings fade like denim
Just like the promise
That we tailor-made
But by August, it was ripped apart and frayed
It’s out with the old when the new gets gone
So I should’ve known that he’d ride off
In that Silverado sun
Leave me the same shade of his 501s
For a while, we mixed like Jack and Coke
We were flyin’ like birds of a feather
Holdin’ on to him, holdin’ on to me
Holdin’ strong like steel-toe leather
Swore we’d never lose our shine
Like his blue eyes underneath that Stetson
But I guess sometimes people change
And feelings fade like denim
Levi’s on a limb by the river bank
Crossin’ everything, we’d stay the same
But nothin’ lasts forever
And feelings fade like denim
Oh
Feelings fade like denim
Oh, we tried to be tough
But we wore out
Yeah, what goes up
Gotta come back down
For a while, we mixed like Jack and Coke
We were flyin’ like birds of a feather
Holdin’ on to him, holdin’ on to me
Holdin’ strong like steel-toe leather
Swore we’d never lose our shine
Like his blue eyes underneath that Stetson
But I guess sometimes people change
And feelings fade like denim
Levi’s on a limb by the river bank
Crossin’ everything, we’d stay the same
But nothin’ lasts forever
And feelings fade like denim
Oh
Feelings fade like denim
