she broke up with the boy Lyrics by MaRynn Taylor
Katie’s at home starin’ at a red dress
She wore the night she met him, hasn’t worn it since then
Now that he’s gone, she’s wearin’ it out tonight
To a hole in the wall, little two-step dive
A champagne smile, couple counties wide
Everyone notices she’s on her own tonight
And they all know why
She broke up with the boy
She broke up with the boy
Yeah, she said goodbye and she ran
She didn’t give him a choice
She said she needed a man
And broke up with the boy
She don’t wanna hear a single sad, slow song
Said she kept it goin’ like two months too long
She got tired of waitin’ around, she got sick of sendin’ him rings
And now everybody’s buyin’ her drinks
She broke up with the boy
She broke up with the boy
Yeah, she said goodbye and she ran
She didn’t give him a choice
She said she needed a man
And broke up
She broke up with the boy
Fell out of love with the boy
I bet she’s gonna be the one that got away
Yeah, that boy’s gonna miss her someday
She broke up with the boy
Fell out of love with the boy
She broke up with the boy
She broke up with the boy
Yeah, she said goodbye and she ran
She didn’t give him a choice
She said she needed a man
And broke up with the boy
She broke up with the boy
