Album: Wallop (2019)

Wallop is the eighth studio album by !!!, a dance-punk group from the United States. The album was released on August 30, 2019, by Warp Records. It was primarily recorded in the Brooklyn apartment of lead singer Nic Offer and features vocal contributions from Meah Pace of !!!, Cameron Mesirow, Angus Andrew of Liars, and Maria Uzor of Sink Ya Teeth.

The album’s double A-side single “UR Paranoid” / “Off the Grid” was released on May 30, 2019, followed by the announcement of Wallop on June 19, 2019, along with the release of “Serbia Drums” as a single. “This Is the Door” was released as a single on August 6, 2019, and “Couldn’t Have Known” was the album’s final single, released on August 27, 2019.

Wallop received mixed reviews, with an aggregate score of 69 out of 100 on Metacritic. Some reviewers, such as Zahraa Hmood of Exclaim!, praised the album for its powerful tracks and convictions about privilege, power, and culture. Others, like Uncut and Under the Radar, were less impressed.
