Back By Then Lyrics by Walker Hayes
Girl, I bet you wore them jeans on a mission
You ain’t just floating around town, you fishing
Catching feelings that I ought to be fighting
Dang, I’m biting
I know the whole gasoline and matches thing
Was nothing but a smoke and fire and ashes thing
That we don’t need to rewind
Don’t you kinda wanna recline
(Lean with it just a little bit)
Down a backroad to the backwoods
Let’s backslide in the backseat
To a throwback with a backbeat
We can run it back like a track meet
Might backfire when the sun creeps in
Probably get a little backlash from your friends
Just let me love you like we did back when
Hey, you might want me back by then
Yeah, I know we’re 50 shades of unstable
Kind of show you can’t watch on cable
Kind of trailer probably shouldn’t hook it back up
Truck it baby, back it up like a mack truck (ooh wee)
Put the backstory on the backburner let it cook (ooh wee)
We could slip out the backdoor, crank it back up
Down a backroad to the backwoods
Let’s backslide in the backseat
To a throwback with a backbeat
We can run it back like a track meet
Might backfire when the sun creeps in
Probably get a little backlash from your friends
Just let me love you like we did back when
Hey, you might want me back by then
(Ooh wee)
Two step them worries to the wayside
(Ooh wee)
Let’s take a little back in the day ride
Down a backroad to the backwoods
Let’s backslide in the backseat
To a throwback with a backbeat
We can run it back like a track meet
Might backfire when the sun creeps in
Probably get a little backlash from your friends
Just let me love you like we did back when
Hey, you might want me back by then
