Future You Lyrics by Citizen Soldier
(Thanks for calling The National Suicide Prevention Hotline)
Future you is glad you stayed
And didn’t throw your life away
‘Cause there’s a light on the other side
Of what you’re going through
I’ve been where you are right now
Tryin’ to see through the darkest clouds
Felt average and replaceable
With pain that’s unexplainable
If hope feels unattainable, don’t let go
‘Cause you should know
Future you is glad you stayed
And didn’t throw your life away
‘Cause there’s a light on the other side
Of what you’re going through
Future you was scared to death
You’d end it all before you met
A person that you can’t see yet
That’s got a better view
So, please, don’t give up on future you
Please, don’t give up on future you
I lived in that angry place
Pissed off every time they’d say
“What’s in your head is changeable
Be grateful, not insatiable”
Sweet talk, but unavailable
Screw their hell, you’ve got yourself
(Oh-oh, oh-oh-oh)
Future you is glad you stayed
And didn’t throw your life away
‘Cause there’s a light on the other side
Of what you’re going through
Future you was scared to death
You’d end it all before you met
A person that you can’t see yet
That’s got a better view
They have perspective that you don’t
They have wisdom you can’t know
Right now, they’re a stranger
But they’ll thank you later
They’ve failed much more than you
They’re praying you’ll get through
Right now, they’re a stranger
But they’ll thank you later
Future you is glad you stayed
And didn’t throw your life away
Future you was scared to death
You’d end it all before you met
A person that you can’t see yet
That’s got a better view
Please, don’t give up on future you
Please, don’t give up on future you
Please, don’t give up on future you
Please, don’t give up on future you
Please, don’t give up on future you
