Time For A Slow Down Lyrics by Gavin Adcock
If the Lord put 28 hours in the day
I’d spend the rest talkin’ about the next
I run myself near ragged
Payin’ off plastic, cashing checks
I drove by Daddy’s Mama’s
Fifteen times and I never stopped
Need a little less of what I want
And a lot more of what I got
Why do I break my back
For the same piece of Fool’s Gold everybody’s out for?
I’ll be just fine with some peace and quiet
Holding down a back porch
Too much work, too much work
The root of all evil done did me dirty
My world’s been spinnin’ too fast
‘Round and ’round
It’s time for a slow down
I’m talkin’ ’bout
Shell station, chicken liver sinkin’
Down to the bottom of an old farm pond
Feed sack for a pillow, a woman in my arms
Countin’ them stars til the last one’s gone
Why do I break my back
For the same piece of Fool’s Gold everybody’s out for?
I’ll be just fine with some peace and quiet
Holding down a back porch
Too much work, too much work
The root of all evil done did me dirty
My world’s been spinnin’ too fast
‘Round and ’round
It’s time for a slow down
Time for a slow down
Spending my life stacking them dimes
Just to find out you can’t buy time
Why do I break my back
For the same piece of Fool’s Gold everybody’s out for?
I’ll be just fine with some peace and quiet
Holding down a back porch
Too much work, too much work
The root of all evil done did me dirty
My world’s been spinnin’ too fast
‘Round and ’round
It’s time for a slow down
Slow on down
Slow down
Slow on down
It’s time for a slow down
