Kanye West
Kanye West is one of the most acclaimed and influential rappers of the 21st century. Born in Atlanta in 1977 and raised in Chicago, West first emerged as a hip hop producer in the early 2000s, crafting hits for Jay-Z, Ludacris and others. Intent on rapping himself, West released his smash debut The College Dropout in 2004, topping charts and winning Grammys for songs like “Jesus Walks.” He went on to put out seven more critically praised albums, blending hip hop, soul and electronic music.
With 21 Grammys under his belt, West has crafted classics like “Gold Digger,” “Stronger” and “Heartless,” making him one of hip hop’s most decorated artists. Beyond music, the Chicago native has impacted fashion by founding the wildly popular Yeezy clothing line. Known for his egotism and controversial statements, West remains a cultural lightning rod. But his creative vision and trendsetting artistry have cemented his status as a defining musician of his era.
