Back In The Valley by Skye Steele
Released : 2017
I’m back in the valley, and I’m overthrown
No more king in the counting house, no more control
Back in the valley, down off the mountainside
Storm carried me up there in winter and dropped me to sparkle and shine
waiting for Springtime
And we go around and round and round and
round and round and round and around.
I’m back in the valley, called out by the sun
Dressing the trees up in emeralds to dance on the branches
sucking up light into our blood.
Back in the valley, swimming upstream
Taking my cues from the curling moon and
following the rocks up to the next version of me.
And we go around and round and round and
round and round and round and around.
Oh, we’re just spinning in rings with these roses and things
that we hold in our teeth, till we all fall down.
I’m Back in the valley, bleaching last years bones.
We ooze out and crawl in and blossom up where death’s been
Brief and soft but we’re taking life
Around and round and round and around and round and round and
round and round and round and around and around and round and round and round and round and round and around
